FAQ

  1. What if I cannot attend a performance for which I have purchased tickets?
If you are a subscriber or multibuyer, you may exchange your tickets for another performance with 24 hours notice (exchange privileges are an exclusive benefit of subscribers and multibuyers, exchange fees and price differentials may apply).  Subcribers and multibuyers may only exchange their tickets into other performances within the same season as the originally purchased tickets.

If you are not a subscriber or multibuyer, you are not eligible for an exchange or refund.  However, you have two options.  The first is to turn the unused tickets in to the box office as a tax-deductible contribution.  The box office must receive these no later than the performance time printed on the ticket.  You will receive a receipt in the amount of the value of the ticket(s) returned.  Only the amount printed on the ticket is applicable as a contribution – service fees are not applicable.

Your second option is to transfer the ticket to a guest.  If you cannot supply the actual ticket to the guest, you may call the box office at least 24 hours prior to the performance and provide us with the name of the guest and the seat location of your ticket.  A duplicate ticket will be held at the box office for your guest.  There is a $1 transfer fee per ticket for this service.  No guest transfers will be processed with less than 24 hours notice.

Regardless of whether you are a subscriber, a multibuyer, or an individual event purchaser, the value of unused tickets may not be carried over from one season to another.
  1. What is Brooklyn Center’s policy for seating latecomers?
Patrons arriving late to a Brooklyn Center performance will be seated per the instructions of the house staff in a pre-designated “late seating” section at the rear of the theater so as not to disturb the artists on stage or fellow audience members.  Latecomers will only be permitted to take their ticketed seats after intermission.  If there is no intermission, latecomers will be required to remain in the late seating section for the duration of the performance.  Patrons leaving the theater during the performance will be asked to wait with latecomers.

Brooklyn Center urges all patrons to allow sufficient travel time for potential delays caused by inclement weather, traffic, construction, weekend subway/bus schedules, and so forth.  Be sure to check your tickets in advance to confirm performance times.
  1. What if I lose my tickets before the day of the show?
For replacement tickets, call the Brooklyn Center Box Office at 718-951-4500 in advance of the performance.  All reprinted tickets will be held at the box office, and will only be released to the person who purchased the original tickets.  Valid ID required for pickup.  Please note that there is a $1 reprint fee per ticket.
  1. Are performances ever cancelled because of inclement weather?
Performances are not cancelled due to weather conditions unless there are EXTREME circumstances such as a performer unable to get to the theatre or the declaration of a state of emergency.  Please call the Brooklyn Center Box Office at 718-951-4500 to inquire about cancellations.  There will be no ticket refunds or exchanges for performances that take place as scheduled.  Service fees are non-refundable – in case of a performance cancellation, only the face value printed on the ticket will be refunded.
  1. Can I bring my children to the performance?
Children are welcome at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts to most shows – especially our Target FamilyFun Series.  Please check with the box office staff if there is any question as to the appropriateness of a performance for children.  Everyone who enters the theater, regardless of age, must have his/her own ticket and occupy his/her own seat.  No babes in arms will be allowed in the auditorium.  As a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, we request that patrons refrain from bringing children under the age of two who are too young to sit quietly, and that parents immediately remove to the lobby any children who get restless during a show.
  1. What accommodations are available to patrons who use wheelchairs or have other special needs?
Wheelchair seating is available with prior notice.  Family restrooms are located in the Main Level Lobby.  Large print programs are available upon request with 72 hours notice.  Animal companions accompanying patrons who are blind or have low vision are welcome.  Please notify the box office when ordering your tickets if someone in your party has special needs, so that our staff can make your visit to Brooklyn Center as enjoyable as possible.
  1. Are discounts available for the Brooklyn College community?
We offer discounts for Brooklyn College students, faculty, staff, and alumni.  Please check with the box office for details.
  1. Are discounts available to students?
$10 student rush tickets are available beginning one hour prior to the performance, subject to availability.  Rush tickets must be purchased with cash only.  Valid student I.D. required at time of purchase.
  1. Can I take pictures during the performance?
No.  The use of any photographic, video, or audio recording devices inside the theatre, without written permission of the management, is prohibited by law.  Any such devices being used during a performance are subject to confiscation until the end of the performance.  Violators may also be punished by ejection and will be liable for monetary damages.
  1. Do you accept TDF vouchers?
Not all performances at Brooklyn Center are part of the TDF voucher program -- TDF vouchers are accepted for select performances only.  Please call the box office at 718-951-4500 to find out if you can use a TDF voucher for the performance you with to attend.  For Brooklyn Center’s 2007-08 season, you may redeem TDF vouchers for the following performances:  Ballet Folklórico de México; Iceland Dance Company; Moiseyev Dance Company; The Tempest; Interpreti Veneziani; 3 Mo' Divas; Cirque Le Masque; Richmond Ballet; Leahy ; The Golem; and Angélique Kidjo.  Brooklyn Center will NOT be accepting TDF vouchers for:  Irving Berlin's I Love a Piano; Ballet Argentino – BoccaTango; Mandy Patinkin in concert; Evita; National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica; or any show in the FamilyFun series.
